John F. Davis is a visionary leader and distinguished public servant, appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis as Secretary of the Florida Lottery in October 2020. With over 25 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, Secretary Davis has consistently demonstrated exceptional strategic insight and a deep commitment to education, economic growth, and community development. His forward-thinking approach has propelled organizations to success and initiated meaningful change.
Under his leadership, the Florida Lottery has achieved unprecedented success, reaching record-breaking sales and transferring over $2 billion annually to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund for four consecutive fiscal years. These contributions have directly bolstered Florida’s Bright Futures Scholarship Program, benefiting nearly one million students to date and solidifying the Florida Lottery’s position as one of the nation’s most impactful supporters of education.
From his humble beginnings in Pahokee, Florida, to his achievements as a standout student-athlete at Florida State University, Secretary Davis’s journey exemplifies resilience and excellence. His distinguished career has earned him numerous prestigious accolades, underscoring his exceptional contributions to both public service and community engagement.
Secretary Davis is committed to community service, serving on the Board of the Heart of Florida United Way, the Florida A&M University Law Dean’s Advisory Council, and the Kappa Alpha Psi Achievement Foundation. He is the immediate past chair of the Volunteer Florida Board of Commissioners and currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees at Valencia College.
Secretary Davis and his wife, Felicia, reside in Orlando, Florida, where he continues to make significant contributions throughout the state of Florida and his local community.
