Bio:
John F. Davis, a visionary leader and distinguished public servant, has been at the helm of the Florida Lottery as Secretary since October 2020. With over 25 years of impactful experience spanning both public and private sectors, he has held pivotal roles including Executive Vice President of the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce and President of the African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida. His diverse career also encompasses significant experience in medical device sales, entrepreneurship and as a veteran political operative.
Throughout his career, Secretary Davis has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to community development and economic growth. His vision and innovative approach have driven success and fostered positive change across organizations he has served.
Under his stewardship, the Florida Lottery has achieved unprecedented national success, recording record-breaking sales over three consecutive fiscal years. Since his arrival, the Lottery has also transferred more than $2 billion annually to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund, adding to the nearly one million students who have benefitted from the Bright Futures Scholarship Program.
From his humble beginnings in Pahokee, Florida, to his achievements as a standout student-athlete at Florida State University, Secretary Davis’s journey is a testament to resilience and excellence. His contributions to public service have been recognized with numerous prestigious awards and accolades. He actively volunteers as a Board Member with the Heart of Florida United Way, FAMU Law Dean’s Advisory Council, and Kappa Alpha Psi Achievement Foundation. He also chairs the Volunteer Florida Board of Commissioners and is a Trustee at Valencia College.
Secretary Davis and his wife, Felicia, reside in Orlando, Florida, where he continues to make significant contributions to the state of Florida and the community that has been integral to his remarkable career.
